SPRING HAPPINESS

Has spring finally sprung?

Well I thought so a few days ago…and then two feet of snow dropped from the sky. So I guess the groundhog was right when it predicted six more weeks of winter. Not to worry though because Trader Joe’s came through with their assortment of beautiful tulips, leaving my house feeling cozy, warm, and full of spring vibes. Fresh flowers always brighten the room and I thought they’d be the perfect addition to my sketchbook.

Sketch of a red vase holding a bunch of pink tulips. Drawing done in colored pencil with a Posca Pen painted outline.

For this sketchbook page I started with the tried and true Prismacolor colored pencils. I always start with a sketch and then deepen the color as I go. I’m a big fan of experimenting in my sketchbook (that’s what it’s for, right?) and decided to add a little pop of contrasting color with my favorite Posca paint pens. I love how this page turned out and could totally see turning it into a sticker. Would love to know your favorite mediums to use in your sketchbook - leave a comment below!
